The Place at the beach has recently been bought by Harry Cragoe and Tudor Hopkins (August 2009).

"Our plans are to radically improve the whole experience for our customers. We both felt passionately that
we would only buy the hotel if we were comitted to a delivering a level of experience that the two of us would
expect if we were customers. This process has already started with the headhunting of our new head chef Austin,
and a number of key bar & brasserie staff from some of London's top hotels. At the same time we are investing in
improving the whole environment of the hotel, with an upgrade and refurbishment program planned for the next
6 months. This will be a gradual process to minimise disruption to our guests. We hope you will come soon and
see some of the improvements yourself!"
