5 Night Christmas Escape

Take your foot of the pedal and really unwind by spending Christmas at the Place at the Beach, next to the glorious
8 miles of Camber Sands. Camber is a special place to visit at Christmas. A walk along the beach on Christmas
morning is something you will remember for the rest of the year and is the perfect start to the festive day.

A little down the road lies Rye, which is the picture post card of an English town at Christmas with lights and
decorations adorning every street, and welcoming pubs and tea rooms enticing you to pop in. Further afield
lies castles to visit and nature reserves to explore….what more could you ask for.

Arrive at the hotel anytime after 3pm on the 22nd Of December and check into your coastal room, Mulled wine
and mince pies will be served in the sitting room when you are ready.

Wrap up warm and head to the beach for a walk along this amazing stretch of coastline.
The following day head into Rye for some last minute Christmas shopping or just explore the many independent
shops that pave the streets of rye.

Click here to see our rough guide of the area with loads of great attractions to visit.

On the afternoon or the 23rd we will be organsing a Dr Syn a treasure hunt in the dunes of camber sands.

Every day we will also be showing an afternoon, kids early evening and 9pm grown up’s movie on our sitting
room cinema screen.

On the 24th afternoon the beach café becomes our children’s arts and craft centre, where there will be cake
baking, coloring, and other kid’s activities!

At 7pm in the sitting room Santa will visit and meet the children!

We have included Christmas Eve supper which will be lots of different dishes brought to the table

At 11pm there will be a taxi which will go take you into the Romney Marshes to for midnight mass.

Wake up on Christmas Day and see if Santa has left anything on your door! If you fancy opening any
presents under the tree head to the sitting room.

A champagne breakfast will be served in the dining room!

Christmas day lunch this year is extra special as our new Head Chef Bruce Wilson formally Head
chef of the Tate Modern) is cooking.

Afternoon movies will run in the sitting room…might have to be James Bond or Indiana Jones!!

Last year one of our guest stumbled upon an event that has been happening for the past 100 years.
At 11:00am, Castle Street in the Ancient Town of Winchelsea briefly becomes the scene of a bizarre
and bruising spectacle. Three teams try to win an object called "the Frenchman's Head" and place it
in a goal at one end of the street. There are no rules and little mercy is shown to other players
(or spectators) who get in the way. Amazingly, injuries are few and typically limited to cuts and bruises,
and occasional lumps on the head. Some essential modicum of order is maintained by the marshall,
who throws the Frenchman's Head into the street and sits on the barrel which acts as the goal, in
order to ensure it remains in place.

Our Boxing Day Buffet Brunch has become a bit of an institution with locals turning up after a walk on
the beach. Your table will be reserved for you!
